Night-time welfare zone to be launched in Dublin city centre

A new permanent welfare zone has been created to assist people during their nights out in Dublin city, and it is expected to launch in the coming weeks The initiative was first tested during the Christmas period and will now be officially launched at the end of next month The “Help Zone” will be a mobile hub stationed at various busy locations in the city centre, providing medical care, welfare services, and general support to those in need during high-risk hours The team behind the service includes medics, security officers, welfare officers, and a site operator Ray O’Donoghue, Dublin’s night-time economy advisor, spoke about the upcoming launch on Newstalk, saying, “Hopefully that will be up and running again in the next couple of weeks” He also added that the service aims to deter anti-social behavior and provide an alternative to going to A&E or the Garda station The initiative was piloted by Dublin City Council and supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media To stay updated on all the latest news from Dublin and surrounding areas, join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp You can also receive special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners If you’re not interested, you can opt out at any time For more information, you can read our Privacy Notice on our homepage
