Tibetans and Sikkimese in Gangtok Celebrates His Holiness’ 90th Birthday with Great Festivities
Gangtok: Tibetan Community in Gangtok celebrated His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday on 6 and 7 July 2025 for two day at Tibetan Community Hall, in front of Sera Jey Monastery, Chandmari, Gangtok, Sikkim.
Shri Migma Norbu Sherpa, Hon’ble Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly, has graced the occasion with his presence for the function as Chief Guest, and Shri Indra Hang Subba, Hon’ble Member of the Lok Sabha and Shri Akshay Sachdeva, Hon’ble DGP of Sikkim Police, have made their wonderful presence as special guest.
Sera Jey Khen Rinpoche, Sakya Nor Gonpa Khen Rinpoche, Zurmang Khenpo, Chant leader from Rumtek Monastery and other representative from monasteries have made their spiritual presence for the function.
Shri Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, Hon’ble MLA, Shri Tshering Palden Bhutia, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor and many other dignitaries have added their wonderful presence by attending the function.
Dhondup Sangpo, Tibetan Settlement Officer and Jinpa Phuntsok, Chairman of LTA, respectively, read out the Statement of Kashag (Cabinet), and Tibetan Parliament in Exile for the occasion.
The new community hall was fully occupied by cheerful faces of general public with their joyful spirits and being in beautiful traditional dresses added more colourful and positive vibes to the beauty of the occasion.
In addition, Sonam Gonpo, a Tibetan Singer and Ogyen Lhundup, a lyricist and Tibetan Comedian, have entertained the audience with their spectacular performances, along with cultural performances from Wings of Tibet, Hamrp Parivar, Tibetan Circle Dance Group and all Kyiduks.
