Eastern Shore Food Coalition Hosts Annual Food Security Symposium March 20th

The Eastern Shore Food Coalition will host the second annual Eastern Shore Food Security Symposium, “Feeding Our Futures, Moving Forward Together,” on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills.
The day-long event will bring together regional leaders, policymakers, nonprofits, and community members to explore practical solutions to food insecurity across Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The symposium will feature keynote presentations, breakout discussions, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen partnerships and advance new strategies for ensuring access to healthy, nutritious food.
Featured speakers include Maryland Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Atticks, Maryland Department of Health Secretary Meena Seshamani, and Charlotte Davis, Executive Director of the Rural Maryland Council. Speakers will discuss the future of agriculture, rural health initiatives, and new opportunities to address food access challenges in rural communities.
The program begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 8:15 a.m. in the Caroline College Center. Opening remarks and keynote presentations will follow from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., with additional morning and afternoon breakout sessions held in the Kent Humanities Building. The event concludes at 3:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The symposium is organized by the Eastern Shore Food Coalition, a network of three regional food security alliances representing the upper, middle, and lower Eastern Shore. Formed in 2025, the coalition works to connect organizations and leaders committed to improving food access across the region. In-kind support for the coalition is provided by the Mid-Shore Health Improvement Coalition.
Financial support for the symposium comes from the Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology, No Kid Hungry, the Eastern Shore Food Coalition, and the Mid-Shore Community Foundation.
The event will be held at Chesapeake College, 1000 College Circle, Wye Mills, Maryland.
Although the symposium has reached capacity, organizers say the strong interest reflects the growing regional commitment to addressing food security challenges on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
