Toulouse Tibetan Community in France Commemorates His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday
Toulouse: The Tibetan Association of Toulouse, in collaboration with Nalanda Monastery and the Vajra Yogini Institute, organized a celebration on 6 July 2025 to mark the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The event was graced by the presence of Jetsun Lobsang Delek Rinpoche, former abbot of Sera Jey Khe Nyen Dratsang, along with several local dignitaries: Jean Terlier, Deputy of Tarn, and his wife Mme Corinne Dourthe; Chantal Guidez; Marie-Christine Imbert; Marie-Claire Marignol representing Lavaur Town Hall; Mme Florence Pradelles, Murielle Mahoux, Patricia Filodeau, Corinne Collongues, and Thérèse Saint-Sernin representing Labastide-Saint-Georges Town Hall; and Mme Dien representing Marzens Town Hall. Each of them addressed the gathering with messages of goodwill and support.
Tenzin Trinley, speaking on behalf of the Tibetan community, delivered a vote of thanks and presented each distinguished guest with a French translation of Voice for the Voiceless by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, as a token of appreciation for their continued support and service.
The program also included a presentation of traditional cultural performances by members of the Tibetan community.
Later in the day, a grand offering ceremony was performed to invoke the protective deities of Tibet, dedicated to the peace and well-being of all sentient beings, and in particular, to remove obstacles to the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Following the ceremony, the birthday celebrations continued in a joyful atmosphere.
Additionally, Tibetan resident Sangye Norbu exhibited a collection of approximately 400 books by His Holiness in English, Tibetan, and French, contributing to the dissemination of His Holiness’ teachings and aspirations. Tibetan children also held an art exhibition, displaying heartfelt drawings inspired by the birthday celebration, reflecting their deep reverence and joy.
